Think of your roof as your head. Even if you wear the most expensive clothes, sparkling jewelry and shiny shoes, you won’t make a big impression if your hair is a mess and you look like you need a good shave. The same is true with your roof. You may have a beautiful home but if you have a bad roof, you may lose everything you have the next time you’re hit by a strong storm. That’s why roof care is important since it’s your first line of defense against the elements. This also affects the resale value of your home. If you live in an area with severe weather conditions, you should make it a habit to inspect your roof regularly. The proper care will make your roof last for 12 to 20 years or even longer. To do this, here are some easy tips to follow:

Check your roof often. When was the last time you checked your roof? A lot of people tend to overlook this because it’s way above them. They usually notice the little things that go wrong at home but forget that they have a roof that needs to be inspected too. Checking your roof from time to time will help you see its condition and enable you to make the necessary repairs before it’s too late. This will also save you a lot of money in the long run.  This is especially true in hotter climates like Arizona roofing can be damaged by the extreme heat.

To see what’s wrong, get a ladder and take a quick peek. Or go to the highest house and take a look from your neighbor’s property. Be on the lookout for loose or missing tiles or signs of wear and tear that need your attention. See if the gutter is intact and if there are debris that need to be cleared.

While you’re up there, try to see if there are other things that may damage your roof. These include tree branches, moss growing in the gutter or pebbles scattered across the roof or clogging sections of the gutter. If you find these, start cleaning your roof before it is damaged by these objects. This will help prevent future problems.  If you live in areas of extreme heat or heavy weather, such as AZ roofing can be damaged by trees and other items that may rub against the roof.  Over time this may cause leaking into your home.

A leaking roof is a big nuisance that can damage your property and cost you a lot of money. If you have this problem, act quickly and repair your roof as soon as possible. Replace missing slates or shingles before they get out of hand. Warning signs of roof problems include daylight penetration, debris on the ground from broken shingles or slates, and mortar droppings in the gutters or gullies. If you’re bothered by these, don’t hesitate to call the experts, as amateur roofing maintenance work can add more problems to a bad roof.  Phoenix roofing can be an issue as well.  It does not rain much in Arizona so damage may not be noticed until it’s too late.  Inspecting your roof from time to time is the key to avoiding damage to your home when the weather gets rough.
